Start Your Business

SEWEDA seeks to create a more prosperous, successful, diversified and sustainable region within Southeast Washington by providing leadership and resources for the success of future businesses. We provide the following local business support (retention & expansion services), business attraction & site location assistance, financial and incentive guidance, entrepreneurial support, business/workforce training and education and community development assistance.

Local governments have planned for the growth that’s occurring. Zoned land, available industrial and research parks, utility capacity, natural resource management and transportation are all factors that have received attention in planning for new industry and population. Two universities, a 4-year State College and a community college provide a diverse curriculum in continuing education for employees of growing businesses. This dimension is one way we return big dividends to employers. And our two-state environment provides ready access to a variety of financial resources to support training.

Financial Institutions

Southeast Washington is home to a number of commercial lenders, from local banks to branches of larger financial institutions. What sets them apart from other, more urban markets is their individual commitment to business customer service. Many Southeast Washington lenders are very active in the community, and they appreciate the value of a healthy economy to the quality of life for local residents. Business managers can expect to develop long-lasting relationships.

Port District and Private Build-to-suit

The Port districts and other private property owners can finance building and infrastructure development to meet company requirements. This can be a particularly beneficial resource for expanding companies to preserve their own capital for operating needs.
